Days 9, 10, 11, 12, & 13
My kids LOVE to sing. They have recently been captivated by "This Little Light of Mine". I could hear them singing in the background as I read today's reading in A Jesus Advent Celebration by Ann Voskamp.
It says in Isaiah 9:2&6:
"Before those people lived in darkness, but now they have seen a great light. They lived in a dark land, but a light has shined on them...A child has been born to us; God has given a son to us. He will be responsible for leading the people. His name will be Wonderful, Counselor, Powerful God, Father Who Lives Forever, Prince of Peace."
We were given the Light of the world to rescue us out of sin and darkness. What a gift. All we have to do is accept it. But I am also challenged today by the message sung by three tiny voices...
"This little light of mine,
I'm gonna let it shine.
This little light of mine,
I'm gonna let it shine, let it shine, let it shine, let it shine.
Hide it under a bushel - NO!
I'm gonna let it shine.
Hide it under a bushel - NO!
I'm gonna let it shine, let it shine, let it shine, let it shine.
Don't let satan (blow) it out,
I'm gonna let it shine.
Don't let satan (blow) it out,
I'm gonna let it shine, let it shine, let it shine, let it shine.
Let it shine 'til Jesus comes,
I'm gonna let it shine.
Let it shine 'til Jesus comes,
I'm gonna let it shine, let it shine, let it shine, let it shine."
